Dr. Traci Iwamoto was born in Iowa City and grew up in the Midwest and Southwest. She attended the University of Iowa and received a degree in biomedical engineering. She attended medical school in her hometown of Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Iwamoto then headed south and completed residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, and she served as administrative chief during her final year of training. Dr. Iwamoto stayed in the greater New Orleans area to practice for over three years. She enjoyed working with her alma mater and teaching medical students, and also taught the hospital’s family medicine residents. She served as chief of the women’s care department for her hospital for two years and worked on multiple committees including utilization review, blood transfusion, and perinatal performance. Her work as division chair was recognized by the hospital with a distinguished service pin and by the Louisiana Hospital Association as a Heroes of Patient Safety recognition.
Dr. Traci Iwamoto met her husband during residency – they married in the French Quarter in New Orleans and welcomed their daughter into their lives in 2019. Her husband’s Bay Area roots brought them to San Francisco in 2020. Traci enjoys being a mom, cuddling with her dog, playing soccer, attending barre classes, and participating in game nights.
