HPV vaccine, Gardasil, is now approved for ages 9 through 45 years. The vaccine is usually offered ages 11 or 12 and is a 2-dose series. If starting the vaccine series on or after 15th birthday, the vaccine is a 3-dose series.
Since guidelines recently changed to approve this vaccine for women 27 to 45 years old, you may now be able to get vaccinated. We recommend checking with your individual insurance about coverage prior to scheduling your appointment
There is limited data on risks/benefits during pregnancy so the current recommendation is to not receive this vaccine when pregnant. If you have started the vaccine series before pregnancy, it is safe to resume where you left off in the series after your pregnancy.
